  Just this minute my family and I returned home from breakfast at The Loft in Hamilton. We are a family of 6 so we don't eat out much. We chose The Loft because of past great experiences and good food for a good price. Today there was a breakfast buffet which consisted of pancakes, french toast, potatoes, fruit, sausage, bacon and what I think was grits. All of that with your choice of eggs cooked to order. It was $10.00 per adult and $6.00 for children. The server (I forgot your name I'm so sorry) was attentive and so sweet, the food was great. Every one of us stated how great something we chose was. Our youngest child is 2 and he is all boy. We brought a couple of trucks and cars for him to play with, and we enjoyed writing with the chalk on the tables. A two year old's attention span isn't of marathon proportions so after he was finished eating he was antsy and wanted to walk around and play. My husband first walked around with him and when they returned he sat with us for a few minutes but then was quickly eager to be on the go again. I walked around the halls of the upstairs (outside of the restaurant) with him for a few minutes and then when we returned one of the older kids also tried to entertain him but unfortunately she was unsuccessful. The tantrum of the two year old began. Our son is loud, and he's strong. We all were trying to help the situation and calm him down in any way we could. At that point another server came up to us and said "I don't mean to be rude but your son is disturbing the other customers" I very shortly said I was sorry, that he's a baby and babies cry. She then restated that he was disruptive to the other patrons. At this point I was thinking maybe this isn't the type of restaurant for kids but then I remembered that we were given a children's menu when we sat down, and there was chalk on each table for coloring. So I said I was sorry, I thought that this was a family establishment. I asked if she was the manager and she stated no, she was "actually the owner". She promptly told us we could leave, I said that we had not paid and would like our check and we would be on our way, she stated our check was on the house (I felt that was just to make the blow of being asked to leave a little easier). I feel terrible for the great server who lost out on a great tip because I didn't have the opportunity to pay (no one had cash with them) I will be back to give you the tip that you earned. Moral of the story------The Loft is NOT a family friendly establishment. We will never return-good luck keeping the doors open without families filling your tables.
